Larry and Lori Morgan decided it would be nice to get a hunting dog for their son for Christmas. That was nine years ago. So they got a little chocolate Lab pup and just hoped she would retrieve and work out for them. That was "Star". Larry and Greg had so much fun training Star to hunt they decided to enter her in some AKC Junior Hunt Tests. Larry was so nervous his first hunt test, he didn't know what to do. And Star failed. And she failed several on her way to her first title, AKC Junior Hunter. When Larry started training Star to hunt, he found out she pointed upland birds naturally, so he continued training her on all the advanced things. Star placed in almost every AKC field trial Derby she ran. Then she won a Qualifying. Then she became a Master Pointing Retriever around the age of one year, then she became a Grand Master Pointing Retriever at 14 months. She went on to become a MH and finish multiple all-age stakes.... pretty decent for "just a hunting dog."

Then the Morgan's begin to get "the bug". And they acquired Striker. Striker placed in all the Derbies he ran, won a
qualifying, has won 3 Amateurs and has a finish ratio in all-age stakes of approximately 80%. Larry and Striker ran the 2003 National Amateur, making it to the 6th series in their first try. Then Maverick came along, and Bubba. Every dog became qualified all-age their first season and more. Then Larry bought Delta for Lori, who has become an FC, run the National, won Derbies, Qualifyings, Amateurs and Opens, and ran the National Open this year. Next came Bodee, who won the Derby in Kansas the same day Larry took first in the Amateur with Delta and second with Striker.

Now little Woody is a pup in training, following in some very big footsteps.

Lucky runs the house, the trucks and the family and keeps those dastardly rabbits from getting anywhere near. She does have a particular liking for dead carp, but that is a personal issue, especially on the trip home from training near any pond with anything dead around it.

The Morgan family is now a major league dog family. Katie and Greg each own their own part of the dogs and spend their share of time spoiling, watching TV with and taking care of the dogs.
